I’ve lived it. I’ve loved it. And I know Kansas City.
The neighborhoods, the restaurants, the hidden gems, the golf courses, the places I take my grandkids, and, yes, the real estate. This is my Kansas City
KC with the Grandkids
The places that get the Ev and Faye seal of approval.
The Kansas City Zoo
The kids love the zoo. Honey has mixed feelings. On our last trip, I had Ev, Faye AND Cack Me with me. I discovered that instead of regular adult scooters, the zoo has giant furry animals you can ride. I told Cack Me I would happily bring everyone back — but only if she agrees to ride one of the. furry horses.
Honey-tested. Grandkid-approved. Cack Me participation varies.
The Rabbit hOle
The adventure begins before you even get inside. You literally head down a dark rabbit hole—which was a little scary for Ev and Faye. But with hands held tightly, they bravely made it through to the other side and into the storybook wonderland that is The Rabbit hOle.
There is something magical about watching your grandchildren discover stories their mom remembers from her own childhood. And then, of course, there are the slides. Down the slide. Back up the stairs. Down the slide. Back up the stairs. Faye eventually moved on. Ev did not. 😂
On our last visit, we discovered an enormous bear in one of the new exhibits. We climbed onto his lap to watch the little movie—and discovered that the bear was breathing.
Between the movie, the giant soft bear and that slow breathing, I’m pretty sure all of us could have taken a nap right there.
And don’t skip the bookstore on your way out. It’s almost as wonderful as everything that comes before it.
Honey-tested. Grandkid-approved. Grown-up kids may love it just as much.
